Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball

About LA-MV

Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball (LA-MVPB) is one of the most successful youth sports programs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Surveys over the last 5 years have shown that parents and players consistently rate LA-MVPB better than other youth baseball programs. As a result, we are the largest and most comprehensive baseball program in the South Bay Area.

Our registration grew to an all-time high of over 1,100 players in 2005 and we have consistently provided a great baseball program to over 1,000 players each and every year since. Our post-season “All Star” teams continue to have success year after year and 2007 was no exception. We had two (yes two!) Mustang level All-Star teams advance to the PONY Regional tournaments by sweeping through Section play. Our PONY 13 All-Star team qualified for Regionals by placing second in their Sectional tournament and our Colt team also advanced to Regional play.

We offered a Palomino division for the first time in the league's history and fielded a very young team who battled older competition throughout the year and by season's end was one of the strongest teams in the league. This year, we expect to field two team in each of the Colt and Palomino divisions thus providing a challenging league for high school players.

LA-MV PONY alumni have gone on to more successes in high school, college baseball, and professional baseball as well. Two former LA-MV players were selected in the 2004 major league draft and eight former players played college baseball in 2005, two of them at Stanford. Longtime LA-MV alum Erik Davis played for the USA Junior National Team in 2003 and again in 2004, and was named to the AFLAC All American High School Game in 2003 and the All American High School Baseball Game in 2004.

It is the philosophy of LA-MVPB that “Everyone Plays Real Baseball.” PONY Baseball (PONY = Protect Our Nation's Youth) provides for flexible rules that make sense for each age group. Base lengths are designed to target the physical maturity and safety requirements for each age group and the rules of baseball are introduced in incremental steps.

It is our goal to teach our children the game of real baseball beginning with the fundamentals, and to pass on to our children our love of the Great American Pastime. Our league is committed to balanced teams and fair play. We provide a clean, supportive, and competitive atmosphere on well-maintained fields, and our league's coaches are trained and instructed that the kids come first.

LA-MVPB has implemented one of the most comprehensive training programs in the South Bay. We expect our coaches, players, and fans to adhere to our Code of Conduct at all times. We are committed volunteers and recognize the hard work that goes into a quality youth sports program.
