Beginning Coaches Clinic
The Shetland and Pinto Coaches Clinic — a.k.a. the “George & Scott Show” — will be held Sunday, February 28, 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Bubb Field. This invaluably informative and highly entertaining coaching clinic is run by long time LA-MV coaches Scott Clarke and George Feliz. It is specifically designed to help coaches teach our younger players the fundamentals and fun of baseball. If you're a first time coach, you absolutely do not want to miss this! This clinic is hands on: bring your glove, cleats, notepad, water bottle, and Advil!
Intermediate and Advanced Coaches Clinic
The Pinto and Mustang Coaches Clinics will be be held on Saturday, February 27th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Oak School's Mustang Field. This year, we have a new partner in South Bay Sports Training for this event, and we hope this will add even more depth to this training. The Bronco, and Pony Advanced Coaches Clinic will be held Saturday February 27, Noon from 10:00am to 11:30am at St. Francis High School followed by an invitation to St. Francis' Varsity Open Practice from 11:30am to 2pm. This clinic is taught by SFHS Varsity Head Coach Mike Oakland and his staff. The clinic will cover a range of topics, from fundamentals to targetted drills.
Coaches with sons who are hoping to play High School ball will find this clinic to be particular valuable: you'll get some face time with one of the Bay Area's top High School coaches, and learn a bit of what's coming down the road.
Player Clinics
LA-MV offers Pitching, Catching, and Batting Clinics at
various times during the season to help coaches in teaching these
fundamental skills to their players.
These clinics are for both players and their coaches —
no one gets to just stands around watch!
The first Player Clinic, which is a Pre-season All-Skills Clinic, is scheduled for Saturday, March 13 at St. Francis High School.Gear up for the new season with a comprehensive set of drills conducted by the St. Francis High School team and coaching staff. This is a great opportunity for young players, particularly those just coming into Pinto and please make every effort to attend.
Pitching/Throwing Clinics
These clinics, scheduled for Sunday March 21, are designed for large groups of approximately 100 players in each group. To maximize attendance and value to the league, All-Star Academy proposes to run this clinic with five instructors so that we can split each group into five distinct stations. We will also use the assistance of volunteer coaches that wish to attend. Please make every effort to attend, not only to get ready for the season (this is Opening Weekend), but also if you're a coach, to have your own questions answered about pitching.
Hitting Clinics
The hitting clinics are designed to be very personalized so that each cluster of teams gets their own slot with four professional instructors for one hour. All-Star Academy will take each group through a variety of drills in their new facility that will emphasize all the core elements of the swing.
Mid-season Tune-up
This year, we are adding a mid-season tune-up clinic with the St. Francis team. As we all know, many kids haven't picked up a ball or a glove in months, and the Mid-season Tune-up on April 25, should help complement the Pre-season clinic as players would have gotten much more into "baseball mode" after a few weeks into the season.
Select Pitching (Mustang-2/Bronco)
These clinics are designed to very personalized, so that each team (5 pitchers) gets their own slot with an All-Star Academy pitching instructor for one hour. The instructor will take each group through a set of drills at ASA's facility that will emphasize all the core elements necessary to be a successful pitcher.
