Los Altos-Mountain View PONY Baseball

Good Neighbor Policy

While our program has grown to over 1,000 players and is well received by the community, the impact on the immediate neighborhoods surrounding the fields we use can be significant and detrimental. In the paragraphs that follow are some guidelines as to how you can help to mitigate the impact of our program on the neighbors of all of our fields.

Special Notice

On May 7, 2006, emergency crews were dispatched to Oak School to assist a fan who was stricken while watching one of our games. The paramedics had to hand carry all their gear to the field, and the ambulance was delayed 10 minutes — because of cars illegally parked in the fire lane, blocking the gate.

We received several additional complaints of illegal parking in 2007, including double parking (particularly for drop offs), blocked gates, parking in private lots, cars parked in fire lanes, and even cars driving right out onto play areas.

Illegal Parking is a critical matter of safety for our fans, our children, and others with whom we share our fields. Please drop off and park only in designated legal areas.

Parking: Please park only in desginated areas. For most of our fields, this means at the front of the school in the school lot. For Covington School, you may also use the parking area adjacent to Rosita. Do not block driveways, fire lanes, gates, and other marked red and yellow zones.

Drop-Offs: Parents, please drop-off your players at the designated drop-off zones in front of the school or in a parking lot. For Covington School, you may drop off at the rear lot. Do not drop your players off on side streets and back access ways to the schools. This is especially important at Oak School: use the main parking lot for drop offs, not the accessway off Shady Springs Way.

Speeding: Please observe posted speed limits on all neighborhood streets. In most cases, this is 25 mph. Avoid the temptation to hurry when you're running just a little late, remember, we share the area neighborhoods with a lot of small children.

Loud Music and Language: Boom-boxes, sound systems and unsportsman-like language are not permitted at any LA-MV Pony Baseball function, whether a game or a practice.

Balls Over Any Fence: Any ball over a homeowner's fence shall not be retrieved during a game or a practice. Players or parents may not climb fences. After a game or practice, a parent may request permission of the homeowner at the homeowner's front door to retrieve a ball. If permission is denied or the homeowner does not respond to the front door, the ball shall not be retrieved. Do not trespass. Trespassing is neither neighborly nor legal.

Restrooms: Restrooms are available for the use of all players, parents and fans at Covington, Loyola, Oak, Montclaire and Springer Schools and at our fields at Cooper. Please use the available restrooms.

Smoking: Parents, smoking is not permitted at any Los Altos-Mountain View Pony Baseball function, at any field or on any school grounds. It is discourteous and illegal to leave cigarette butts in the streets, on the sidewalks or in the gutters of our neighborhoods.

Trash: Use the provided receptacles for your trash. If full, take your trash home. Please do not litter the restrooms, our school grounds, fields, parking lots or our neighborhoods.

Dust: Where we have infield sprinkler systems please operate them for a minimum of 5 minutes before each drag of the field by a vehicle, otherwise hand water.

Please follow these guidelines. Ideas and thoughts you may have to mitigate our presence are encouraged.
