Pinto & Mustang Baseball Camps
Saturday February 12, 2011
St. Francis High School, Bradford Stadium
These camp sessions will take place just after the teams have been formed so it will be a nice opportunity for coaches to gather the teams together for their first meeting and enjoy the camp as a team. This year we ask for players to sign up for the camp at the evaluation sessions so that we have a good idea of the numbers and can insure a good coach-to-player ratio. Coach Oakland and his staff have reserved the newly turfed stadium and have a great session planned this year.
Evaluations — Mustang, Bronco, Pony
What if it Rains?Camps and Evaluations WILL be conducted in a light rain. If in doubt, check the website homepage. |
Evaluations are required for all players who register for Mustang, Bronco, and Pony Divisions. There are no Evaluations for Shetland and Pinto players (teams are assembled by the Division Director).
All evaluations will be held at Covington Field. Please allow 1½ to 2 hours to complete evaluations.
Please come before your time slot or early as possible to register and your child will be placed in a tryout group of approximately 10 players. We ask for your patience and we will move through the process as quickly as possible. Please allow for 1-2 hours as we will have several groups to get through.
The purpose of evaluations is to evaluate players skills so that we can:
Evaluations consist of each player doing a short timed run,
hitting 5-7 balls pitched from a pitching machine, fielding 3-4 fly balls and
making a throw to second base, and fielding 3-5 ground balls at shortstop and
making a throw to first base. Mustang and Bronco Division evaluations also include an optional
station where players throw 5-10 pitches to an adult catcher. The total evaluation
process takes about an hour. Please bring a hat and a glove and wear
appropriate baseball attire. Unless the league informs you otherwise, you
may assume that your child will play in the division that you request on your
application. In some cases, based on evaluation results, safety considerations, or
available roster openings, the League will call you to suggest an alternate
placement for your child.
