Tyler Davis, Senior Pitcher, University of Washington

Tyler Davis, Senior  Pitcher, University of Washington

Tyler had one of the most decorated high school careers in recent memory at Archbishop Mitty High School. He was twice named the WCAL Pitcher of the Year, twice named 1st team All WCAL and twice named 1st team All San Jose Mercury News. As a senior he was his team’s MVP, a 1st team All CCS, 1st team All Northern California, 1st team All California and 1st team Louisville Slugger All American. Tyler was honored by the Santa Clara County Hot Stove Committee as the area’s High School Pitcher of the Year for 2011. He posted a high school career pitching record of 24-4 with 4 saves, including a perfect 4-0 record in CCS playoff games. As a senior, he posted a dominating 1.06 ERA with 106 strikeouts and only 17 walks over 86 innings while batting .306. As a high school junior with teammates Alex Balog and Sean Edgecumbe, he helped Mitty to a CCS Division-1 championship, #1 ranking in California and a #1 ranking in the nation by Rivals.com and Perfect Game. Tyler was 11-0 on the mound that season and was named a MaxPreps Junior All American, an Underclass All State player and was selected to the North team for the CBCA California All Star Series. As an LA-MV player in the Pinto through Colt Divisions, along with teammates Chris Harper, Alex Medin, Sean Edgecumbe, and Mat Snider he helped LA-MV to 3 Section titles, 2 Northern California Region titles and 2 appearances in the U.S. West Zone tournament where he and his teammates missed a trip to the Bronco World Series by one game. As a 14-year old, Tyler played for the gold medal winning USA 14U National Team in the Pan Am qualifier tournament in Guatemala. His older brother, Erik, was an All Pac10 pitcher at Stanford and is currently playing for the MLB Washington Nationals. His father, Tom, is a former President of LA-MV PONY Baseball and longtime coach.

Mat Snider, Senior Pitcher/Infielder, Pepperdine University

Following in his father’s footsteps, Mat completed a standout 4-year high school career as one of the top players ever at Los Altos High School in 2011. He was twice named All SCVAL 1st team, twice named his team’s MVP and named to the Palo Alto Daily’s 1st team, the San Jose Mercury News 1st team and All-California 2nd team as a senior. As a senior Mat batted an astonishing .522 with 14 extra base hits, a .605 on-base percentage, 20 stolen bases and 27 RBIs. He led all CCS players in both hits and runs scored. On the mound he won 6 games and struck out 50 batters over 57 innings as Mat helped his team to the CCS Division-2 title game where they ultimately finished as runner-up. As an LA-MV player in the Pinto through Palomino Divisions, along with teammates Sean Edgecumbe, Alex Medin, Chris Harper and Tyler Davis he helped LA-MV to 3 Section titles, 2 Northern California Region titles and 2 appearances in the U.S. West Zone tournament where he and his teammates missed a trip to the Bronco World Series by one game. His father, Mat Sr., is a former pitcher at the University of the Pacific, a former LA-MV Board member and longtime coach.

Gordon Deacon, Junior Infielder, Cal State Chico

Gordy transferred to Chico this year after a successful 2 year baseball career at Mission College.  He joined Mission after a terrific three-year varsity career at Homestead High School. A right-handed thrower and left-handed batter, Gordy was invaluable both at the plate and the middle infield. As the Mighty Mustang's #2 batter and starting shortstop, he led the team in batting average and runs scored for both his junior and senior years (.387 overall) while winning the team’s Most Valuable Defensive Player Award. A savvy base runner, Gordy also led the Mustangs with 16 stolen bases his senior year, being caught only once. Gordy was a two-time SCVAL 1st Team All League selection, and a Homestead Athlete of the Week. Gordy played with LA-MV from Pony Division through Palomino.

Nick Lillie, Sophomore, Claremont McKenna College

Nick is now playing for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Stags, an NCAA Division III team in the SCIAC Conference.  Prior to his collegiate career, Nick played varsity baseball at Mountain View High School where as a junior he played 4 different positions and hit .300. During his senior year, Nick recorded a .970 fielding average in the infield and was awarded the Most Valuable Offensive player of the year award after hitting .400 for the majority of the year. Nick was ranked among the SCVAL league leaders in OBP and BA and earned the honor of second-team all-league as a second baseman.
 
Nick joined LA-MV when he was 5 years old and started in the Shetland Division. Nick was an all-star player in Mustang-1, Mustang-2 and Bronco Divisions and played in the club program during that same timeframe. Nick was also on the 2007 Cooperstown team.
 
Nick’s father, Brian, served on the LA-MV board for one year, and is currently in his 15th year coaching in the league.

Casey Douglas, Freshman Pitcher, University of Kansas

Casey played for LAMV Pony for seven seasons through Pony Divsiion. Casey was part of the team that won the Pony Interlock championship and represented LA-MV each year as an All Star. He played a variety of positions, including pitcher, first base, third base and outfield. Casey also played multiple sports, including soccer and NJB Basketball.

After LA-MV, Casey was selected to the Bay Area World Series All Tournament Team in 2013. Casey attended St Francis High School, where he lettered twice in baseball. In 2014 Casey won of 5 of his 6 starts, with a 0.46 ERA. He pitched a no-hitter against Yuba City in the Scott Boros Tournament his Senior Year.   He also pitched a 3-hit shutout against Clayton Valley in the Elite-8 Tournament. The pitcher allowed just 10 hits all season, while racking up 32 strike outs. Douglas also represented the Lancers on the football field, where he played quarterback for the JV team and on the court where he was a two-year starter on the St Francis varsity basketball team, which won CCS his Junior year. He was also founder of the Six Man Spirit Crew and was Vice President of the ASB.

Douglas signed with the Kansas Jayhawks of the Big12 Conference and attends the university on a baseball scholarship. He joins a Jayhawks team that was ranked as high as 22nd in the nation last season and qualified for the NCAA College World Series regionals. Casey's father; Chet also was proud to be a coach for many years from Mustang through Pony and managed various All-Star teams through the same time frame.

Craig Young, Freshman Infielder, UCLA

Craig is now playing for the UCLA Bruins, an NCAA Division I team in the Pac-12 Conference. Under Head Coach John Savage, the Bruins are expected to go deep in the NCAA College World Series this year, and are currently ranked in the top-10 in the nation. Craig is an Electrical Engineering major at UCLA.

A standout infielder at Homestead High School, Craig was recognized in multiple years at the all-league level, including All-League MVP in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SVCAL). He played 3 years of Varsity Baseball and was a starter all 4 years, typically playing shortstop and batting 3rd. Among his baseball honors, Craig was awarded Cal Club Baseball’s (CCB) Player of the Year award, Homestead’s Player of the Year and Senior of the Year awards, and was also the starting second baseman on the Colt World Series Champion Los Gatos Legends.

Craig had a long and successful LA-MV career, which started in Shetland and ran through Colt. A perennial all-star player, playing infield and pitching, Craig was on the highly successful 2010 Pony Regional runner-up LA-MV All Star team, along with teammates Casey Douglas and Patrick McMullen. In 2014, Craig was the recipient of the prestigious PONY Baseball Alumni Scholarship.  This was the first time anyone from LA-MV has won this award.

Craig’s father, Byron, is a 15-year coaching veteran at LA-MV Pony, and was the league’s president from 2013-2014.

Patrick McMullen, Freshman Pitcher, Point Loma University

Patrick is now playing for the Pt. Loma University Sea Lions, an NCAA Division II team in the PacWest Conference. Patrick was a 4-year player at St. Francis and was an important weapon for their pitching staff. Under Head Coach Joe Schaefer, Point Loma has been on a tear this season with a record of 12-3. Prior to his collegiate career, Patrick enjoyed a successful 4-year run as an infielder and pitcher for St. Francis High School, under Coach Mike Oakland, and alongside fellow Lancer Casey Douglas.

Patrick joined LA-MV when his family moved from the Boston area, and quickly established himself as an all star-caliber player in both Bronco and Pony Divisions. Patrick was on the highly successful 2010 Pony Regional runner-up LA-MV all star team, along with teammates Casey Douglas and Craig Young.

Patrick’s father, John, served on the LA-MV board for several years, and also volunteered as a coach in the league.
