Colt Division provides players an opportunity to play full regulation baseball, and is intended as an extension of a player's Junior Varsity High School experience.
The diamond and pitching distance is the same size as high school, college, and professional baseball. LA-MVPB participates in an inter-locked league with teams from Santa Clara County. A 15-20 game season starts after the end of the high-school season and concludes by mid July. Each player receives the use of a baseball jersey and belt (players must supply pants), plus a cap and socks to keep after the season.
Colt Division teams typically are coached by professional or high school level coaches. Teams are preformed from existing high schools teams or travel teams and represent either high school Frosh/Soph or JV levels.
Since 2009, the age requirement for Colt Division has changed from “Ages 15-16” to 16 and Under (16U). This will give 14-year-old High School players the option of returning to the Pony Division at the end of their High School season, or electing to play a complete season in the Colt Division.
