Pinto-1 Division Director
Pinto-2 Division
Players continue to learn the basic fundamentals of baseball. Coaches pitch with a softer-than-usual baseball. The diamond is 50 feet, the pitching mound is 38 feet, and flexible rules expedite play. Players are assigned to teams with their schoolmates. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division. No standings are kept. Each player receives a baseball jersey, hat, individual and team photos, and a trophy.
Due to the size of our league and the desire to introduce the complete game of baseball in gradual stages, LA-MV has organized Pinto into two age-based divisions:
Pinto-1 is for players with Shetland equivalent experience, players age 7 by April 30th and above with minimal experience, and returning players who prefer to continue with a more introductory level of play.
Pinto-2 is for returning Pinto players and new players with Pinto-1 equivalent experience who desire a level of play that is slightly more advanced than Pinto-1. Using a softer-than-usual baseball, there is a transition from coach-pitch to player-pitch as the season progresses.
A select number of Pinto-2 players are invited each season to participate in post-season “All Star” play. For more information, visit the Post-Season Programs page.
